Republic Day violence case: Delhi Court extends interim protection given to Lakha Sidhana
Lakha Sidhana Arrest: A Delhi court on Saturday extended the interim protection given to gangster-turned-activist Lakha Sidhana in connection with the Republic Day violence case. The court stated that it would “not intervene in things where fundamental rights were involved”.
The Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau asked Delhi Police not to arrest Lakha Sidhana till July 20 and said that it did not want a ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ to start.

Lakha Sidhana was earlier granted protection till July 3. He has been directed to join the investigation in the Republic Day violence case.

The judge said that “We do not want Jail Bharo Andolan to start." "These are political issues," he said, adding that if protesters wanted to highlight the issue, were they wrong?
On January 26, the protesting farmers clashed with police during the tractor rally and stormed into the Red Fort, hoisted religious flags on its domes.
Meanwhile, Sidhana, through his advocates Jaspreet Singh Rai and Jasdeep Dhillon, moved to Delhi's Tis Hazari court. He sought anticipatory bail as his counsel asserted that he had no role to play in the incident.
On behalf of the police, the public prosecutor Pankaj Bhatia, informed the court that Sidhana had invited the protesters to the Red Fort. He is being alleged as one of the main conspirators in the case.
