SAD condemns Sikki for threatening SHOs of dire consequences if they don't obey Congress workers

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today condemned Khadoor Sahab legislator Ramanjit Singh Sikki for threatening Station House Officers (SHOs) with dire consequences if they did not obey the directives of Congress workers. In a statement here, former finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said Sikki had during a public meeting in Khadoor Sahab yesterday directed the DSP to direct SHOs to ensure no Congress worker returned “disappointed” after visiting a police station. He said in a direct threat to SHOs Sikki also announced that if this happened he would reach the police station himself and teach a befitting lesson to the concerned officer. Stating that immediate action should be taken against the Congress legislator under relevant sections of the law for threatening a government official and preventing him from doing his duty in an impartial manner, the former finance minister said there was a complete mismatch in statements emanating from Chandigarh and the actions of Congress functionaries in the field. “Press releases full with lofty ideals are being released from Chandigarh, but at the field level we are witnessing Congress goodaism at its worst. Yesterday Welfare of SC and BCs minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot got piqued at his name not being mentioned in the first line of a foundation stone inaugurating an academic block built by philanthropists at Nabha. He resultantly publically humiliated and bullied the school principal. Today Sikki is threatening to take away the jobs of police officers if they don’t obey the dictates of Congress workers and register false cases against the akalis”. Mr Dhindsa said the high handedness being practiced by Sikki was in line with the Congress policy to strike out at its political opponents by using the police force as a tool for this vendetta exercise. He said proof of this was seen a few days back with an akali worker was killed by a five member police party headed by an assistant sub inspector. He said the worker was beaten up merciless after a search of his house did not yield any illegal liquor as was being claimed. “Now we have direct proof that the Congress mlas want to use the police to browbeat akali workers and get false cases registered against them”. The Lehra Ghagga legislator said the SAD would not keep quiet and tolerate the launch of a well-planned systematic vendetta drive against akali workers. “The SAD will launch a mass movement to stop this vendetta drive in its tracks”, he said adding the party would face all cases of vendetta unitedly”.
