SAD says blatant lies of Sunil Jakhar won’t save sinking ship of Congress
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) said the blatant lies of Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar could not save the sinking ship of the Congress party and asked him to explain why his government had not taken action against any official since the last three and a half years for laxity in prosecuting Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Raheem for hurting religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
Former minister Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the PCC President was in such a hurry to mouth malicious lies against the SAD that he forgot to mention that it was the SAD- BJP government which sanctioned the prosecution of the Dera head in the Salabatpura case for hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community.
He said that not only was a case registered against the Dera head under section 295 (a) and 298 for hurting religious sentiments but also under section 153 (a) for provocation with intent to riot. He said the government even gave sanction to prosecute the Dera head under section 295 (a) as required under law and the Dera head was associated with the investigation twelve times. “The case went up to the session court and is still pending in the Punjab and Haryana high court “, he added.
Exposing the lies of the PCC President, Dr. Cheema said the former was talking about investigating procedures and the issues raised by the Investigating Officer regarding the actual date of the incident and the date mentioned by the complainant. “If the Congress government feels the IO or other officials have not represented the State properly it should have taken action against them. Why were they sleeping till now? Why no inquiry has been ordered into the matter till now?”, he asked.
The SAD leader said that the PCC President was indulging in these desperate antics because he had nothing to show by way of results as far as the Congress government was concerned.

He said the last three and a half years tenure of the Congress was one of the abject failures. “Not only is the government characterized by failing each and every section of society and reneging on its promises but is also known for a variety of scams be it the Rs 5,600 crore liquor scam, the seed, and the central ration scam. Understandably Mr. Jakhar does not want any debate on these issues and that is why he is making malicious and mischievous allegations against the SAD. I assure Mr Jakhar that the people of Punjab will punish him again for doing dirty politics on a highly sensitive and emotive issue as they have done in the past also”.
