SAD leaders hail Parkash Singh Badal for returning Padma Vibhushan
Farmers Protest against farm laws 2020: Shiromani Akali Dal leaders hailed party patron and five times chief minister Sardar Parkash Singh Badal for going by his conscience and returning the Padma Vibhushan award to protest against the betrayal of the cause of the peasantry by the BJP led central government. The party Kisan Wing President Sikander Singh Maluka and party senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said the former chief minister had always been at the forefront in the fight for securing the rights of farmers. The Akali leaders said the Parkash Singh Badal had made the President aware, by returning Padma Vibhushan award, that the centre was unmoved by the suffering of farmers who were protesting at the borders of the national capital. Maluka and Dr. Cheema said it was now also clear that the central government had betrayed both Badal as well as the SAD. They said Badal had disclosed how he had been assured that the concerns of the farmers would be addressed when the agricultural ordinances were brought to vote in parliament as Bills. They said the SAD was also conveyed the same thing. “Unfortunately the central government passed the ordinances in toto which is the reason why farmers protest took place against the black laws now”. Asking the centre to understand the seriousness of the issue, the SAD leaders demanded that the three farm laws should be repealed immediately. -PTC News
