SAD to contest 35 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh

Chandigarh September 12 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) national president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced the party would contest on 35 seats on its own in the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in April 2017 and has appointed party observers to strengthen the party in UP. Disclosing this party chief Mr Sukhbir Badal said the SAD was hopeful of good results as it had identified 35 seats having considerable population of Punjabis. He said the Punjabis, especially farmers, were facing lots of problems due to their non-representation in the state assembly and the SAD would fight to fulfil their aspirations in the state.
