SAD urges Union HRD Minister to intervene to end discrimination in evaluation of board results
Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal urged Union HRD Minister Mr Prakash Javadekar to immediately intervene to end discrimination in the evaluation of 10th & 10+2 examination undertaken by various state boards, CBSE & ICSE. The party alleged that in one country two different yard sticks are being applied causing huge damage to the students of state boards. A detailed letter in this regard was written by the Former Education Minister and SAD Spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema to the Union HRD Minister today. In the letter Dr Cheema mentioned that a decision was taken by the Union Govt. after holding a National level combined meeting of all the state boards, CBSE & ICSE to stop policy of moderation throughout the country. The state boards have complied with the decision and many state boards including Punjab School Education Board have declared results without moderation. But after a Delhi High Court Judgment, the CBSE has declared the result with moderation. With this a new anomaly has developed. It was the responsibility of the MHRD to either challenge the decision of Hon’ble High Court before the appropriate authority or they should have issued directions to all state boards to give the benefit of moderation to their students. But at present a strange situation has developed due to which the students passing out from state boards will not be able to compete with the students from CBSE board. Similar situation will also be there when these students will apply for jobs where minimum educational qualification is either Matric or 10+2. Dr. Cheema requested the Union Minister to immediately convene a meeting of all boards of the country and take immediate remedial measures to ensure uniformity in the evaluation system and to stop discrimination with the students of state boards. — PTC News
