SC wants 8-month-old rape victim baby shifted to AIIMS

8-month-old rape victim: Concerned over the  rape of an eight-month-old baby girl  by her cousin in Delhi, Supreme Court directed that two AIIMS doctors to visit the child in the hospital and assess if she can be shifted to premier medical facility. A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra ordered that the infant could not be shifted, the doctors shall tender personal assistance to the victim. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was told by the bench that it sorts a report from the doctors by Thursday as it is concerned about the victim. A member of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has been asked to accompany the doctors when they visited the infant. The 28-year-old cousin confessed to raping the baby on Sunday under the influence of alcohol. eight-month-old baby was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin in New Delhi’s Shakurbasti on Sunday. The baby received multiple injuries in her private parts and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a local hospital in a critical condition, police said. As per reports, the mother of the accused was babysitting the infant, soon after; the cousin came to the house and said he wanted to play with the baby. He then took her to one of the rooms, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. The youth gagged the mouth of the infant so as to ensure that her screams could not be heard by anyone in the house. The child’s mother, who works as a maid nearby, returned home at night, only to find her daughter crying in pain and profusely bleeding from her genitals. -PTC News
