Chandigarh, July 20: Sukhbir Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal is holding a massive protest at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday for the release of Sikh prisoners who have served their sentences. Notably, Shiromani Akali Dal has been raising the matter for a long time now. Senior party leaders including Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsimrat Kaur Badal have urged Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh the release of 'Bandi Singhs' (Sikh prisoners) who have been languishing in various jails for many years. Meanwhile, senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Balwinder Singh Bhunder, in a veiled attack said that Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal would do anything to win elections in Haryana. He further said the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government is giving up its rights on Chandigarh. Since 1966, Akali Dal continues to fight for the right of the people of Punjab and has been raising issues affecting the state." "We will fight for Chandigarh. Sidhu Moosewala's SYL and Kanwar Grewal's songs which talked about rights of Punjab have been banned." "Punjab government is spending crores of rupees on advertisements.
