Neighbourhood shops in Chandigarh to remain closed till May 3; ban on liquor continues
In a major relief to shopkeepers and the general public, the Centre in a late-night order on Friday allowed all the neighbourhood shops to open, but with conditions. However, Chandigarh being a ‘containment zone’ won't be able to take benefit out of the GoI's decision.
UT Adviser Manoj Parida stated that "Please note that Chandigarh being a containment zone, neighborhood non- essential shops opening will not happen till 3rd May."

He also added that "No industry/factory, nor any e-commerce delivery of non-essential items will be permitted in Chandigarh which is under curfew and containment zone." Likewise, the manufacturing, sale, supply, and distribution of liquor will continue to be banned in Chandigarh, till further orders.
