IND vs AFG; Asian Games Cricket Final: After the final was called off owing to heavy rain, the Indian men's cricket team won gold in their first Asian Games campaign. Afghanistan had batted for 18.2 overs when the final was called off.
However, due to their higher ranking, India won gold. Afghanistan had to settle for a silver medal.
When rain interrupted play, Afghanistan were 112/5 in 18.2 overs.
Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube both took one wicket. Ravi Bishnoi and Shahbaz Ahmed also contributed with wickets.
Afghanistan lost early wickets as they were put to bat first. In the second over, Shivam Dube removed Zubaid Akbari with a length delivery. In the next over, Arshdeep Singh dismissed Mohammad Shahzad.
Noor Ali Zadran was run out in the fourth over as Afghanistan attempted to add to their score. After four overs, Afghanistan was 13/3.
Afsar Zazai and Shahidullah tried to steer the batting, but their partnership was broken by Ravi Bishnoi. Afsar made 15 from 20 balls.
As Afghanistan's batting caved in, Shahbaz Ahmed promptly grabbed another wicket. In the 11th over, he sent Karim Janat to the pavilion.
Afghanistan had completed 18.2 overs before rain intervened and prevented play from progressing.
