Ind vs Pak clash: What happens if rain washes out T20 World Cup match ?
PTC News Desk: The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash faces the risk of a washout, with rain forecasts adding fresh uncertainty for both teams. While administrative and political issues surrounding the fixture have been resolved, weather conditions at the R Premadasa Stadium could yet disrupt plans.
According to forecasts, there is a 65 per cent chance of rain during the day, along with scattered thunderstorms and heavy cloud cover. Although the likelihood of precipitation drops slightly in the evening, rain probability remains between 49 and 65 per cent. While earlier projections suggested limited chances of rain during match hours, the possibility of showers cannot be ruled out. Changing wind patterns closer to game time could further influence conditions, prompting both sides to closely monitor updates.
What if the match is washed out?
As per T20 regulations, a minimum of five overs per side must be completed for a result to be declared. If that threshold is not met, the match will be abandoned. With no reserve day scheduled for group-stage games, the points would be split, with India and Pakistan receiving one point each.
