IPL 2024: Sources confirm Hardik Pandya's move from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians in trade deal

IPL 2024Indian cricket team all-rounder Hardik Pandya has made a noteworthy shift from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians in a sensational trade ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, as per insider sources. Although Pandya was initially part of Gujarat Titans' retention list, the trade was finalized after the retention deadline on November 26. The trading window remains open until December 12, allowing for the completion of this significant move. The transaction is reported to be an all-cash deal, with no other players involved in the exchange for Pandya.

Having previously played seven seasons for Mumbai Indians, Pandya was released before the 2022 season. Subsequently, he joined Gujarat Titans and led the team to consecutive IPL finals, clinching the trophy in their debut season.

Notable releases from Mumbai Indians for the upcoming IPL include England pacers Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan. Archer, despite high expectations from fans, faced interruptions due to injuries in the last season, impacting his performance. With only two wickets in five matches, he struggled against opposing batters.

Among the Indian players released are Arshad Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Hrithik Shokeen, Raghav Goyal, and Sandeep Warrier, who was brought in as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah last year. South African youngsters Tristan Stubbs and Duan Jansen, along with Australian pacer Riley Meredith, have also been released.

Despite these changes, Mumbai Indians have retained their core set of players, including talents like Cameron Green, Nehal Wadhera, Dewald Brevis, Shams Mulani, Jason Behrendorff, and Vishnu Vinod. In the previous season, Mumbai Indians reached the playoffs but faced a defeat against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.
