Who is Saurabh Netravalkar: Mumbai's oracle engineer shocks Pakistan in super over

PTC News Desk: The USA shocked Pakistan in a Group A match on Thursday night, causing one of the biggest upsets in the history of the World Cups (T20 or ODI). It took a unique Super Over display from American born in Mumbai, Saurabh Netravalkar, to stun Pakistan, captained by Babar Azam.

After the scores in the 40-over game were tied, Netravalkar was assigned to defend 18 runs in the one-over eliminator in Dallas. Netravalkar led the USA to victory despite all odds being against them. He bowled beautifully, keeping his composure, giving up just 13 runs to secure a historic victory.

After deflating Pakistan's dreams of winning the T20 World Cup 2024, the guy who wore the India shirt as a kid, Netrvalakar, gave hope to all aspiring cricket players who want to compete on a global scale.

Who is Saurabh Netravalkar?

Netravalkar, who was born in Mumbai on October 16, 1991, participated in the 2010 World Cup as a player for the Indian U19 squad. However, he was unable to refine his skill any more due to the competition in India. One of those bowlers who can generate pace and bounce off any surface is the left-arm pacer, and he demonstrated this ability against Pakistan on Thursday.

After arriving in the US in 2015, the former cricket player for India U19 went on to achieve history in the sport he wanted to play professionally in less than 9 years. Netravalkar is a former teammate of senior Indian talents KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Harshal Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, and Sandeep Sharma. He has also participated in a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai.

Being a gifted cricket player as well as an accomplished engineer, Netravalkar had to juggle his career as an Oracle Senior Software Engineer with his passion for cricket. The most difficult thing for him to do was to balance his passion for cricket with his core profession of coding for the organization.

His unwavering resolve allowed him to masterfully manage both, and in the T20 World Cup 2024, he was instrumental in the United States of America creating history.

When Netravalkar represented India in the U19 World Cup in 2010, their ambitions were crushed by a Pakistani team led by a teenage Babar. It was a painful pill to lose. In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Netravalkar—who is currently a key member of the USA team—wrote a beautiful reversal. Fast-forward 14 years. He bowled a spectacular Super Over, guiding the USA to an incredible win over Pakistan captained by Babar.
