World Athletics Championships: Neeraj Chopra refuses to sign on Indian flag, wins hearts

World Athletics Championships: Neeraj Chopra has once again made the country proud with his historic achievement at the World Athletics Championships. It is the first gold medal won by an Indian at the World Championships. The athlete, who has won over a billion people's hearts yet again, is also being praised for his patriotic act after refusing to sign an Indian flag.

A Hungarian fan approached him after he won gold in the men's javelin throw at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest and wanted him to sign an Indian flag. Chopra, on the other hand, declined, saying, "Wahaan nahin sign kar sakta (can't sign there)"

"Eventually, he signed her shirt sleeve. She was pretty happy all the same," journalist Jonathan Selvaraj tweeted.

A photo of Chopra signing a fan's T-shirt while holding the Tricolour is going viral on social media.

Many people on social media praised Chopra for refusing to sign the flag.

"What an amazing gesture by Neeraj Chopra! He is truly an inspiration to all of us. His humility and respect for the Indian flag are commendable," a netizen said.

The triumph of the 25-year-old athlete is seen as a huge accomplishment for India. He is the first Indian to win a gold medal in any track and field event at the World Championships.

Chopra now has the full set of global medals, which includes the Olympic Gold Medal, the Diamond Trophy, and the World Championships Gold Medal.
