Nawanshahr: Ahead of Punjab Assembly elections 2022, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Tuesday officially announced Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal as the CM candidate of the SAD-BSP alliance in the state. While addressing a mega rally in Nawanshahr, Mayawati said that Sukhbir Singh Badal is the CM face for the SAD-BSP alliance in Punjab. He (Sukhbir Singh Badal) will surely give respect to the weaker section of society, she said. The truth is that the Congress has announced Dalit face as CM just to get votes." "I don't think the Congress will come to the power. And if by any chance, Congress voted to power, then I am sure that Channi will be sidelined from the position of Chief Minister," he said. She further said that the anti-farmer policies of the Central government will not be implemented in the state once the SAD-BSP alliance comes into power. Governments led by Parkash Singh Badal have always respected all religions, Badal added. Punjab Assembly elections 2022 are scheduled to be held on February 20 while the results will be declared on March 10.
