Sukhbir Badal says Cong govt ran away from answering questions like ‘kurki’ and support extended to 1984 perpetrator Kamal Nath by the Gandhi family Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today condemned the Congress government for violating democratic norms and reducing legislative business to one sitting in the winter session in the Vidhan Sabha, and asserted the Congress party and government had run away from answering questions like ‘kurki’ being done on farmers and open support to 1984 genocide perpetrator Kamal Nath by the Gandhi family. He said the Congress party led by the Gandhi family was also shamelessly promoting the perpetrators of the 1984 Sikh genocide as per its old policy by deciding to nominate Kamal Nath to the post of chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="600"]answering questions Sukhbir Badal says Cong govt ran away from answering questions like ‘kurki’[/caption] Rubbishing the Congress government’s excuse that the session had been curtailed due to lack of business, Mr Badal said it was strange that at a time when Punjab was burning, the Congress government did not have any work to do. “This itself is a reflection on the government. It tantamounts to admitting that it has not done any work. By denying people issues to be raised in the august house the government has also shown how much respect it has for them”, he added. Also Read: Sukhbir Badal calls emergency meeting of core committee to further intensify party’s ongoing agitation in favour of sugarcane growers Terming the Congress government as the most incompetent government in the history of the State, Mr Badal said it had not only denied dues amounting to Rs 400 crore to sugarcane farmers but also failed to keep provision for disbursal of Rs 470 crore which would become due to cane growers during the current cane crushing season. He said earlier paddy farmers suffered a loss of Rs 1100 crore because the government postponed paddy transplantation which resulted in lower yields. He said this also resulted in increased moisture content in the grains and farmers were forced to pay an additional Rs 100 to Rs 150 per quintal bribe to get their produce procured. “Currently potato farmers are suffering with their crop selling for less than Rs one per kilogram but the government is not making any effort to come to their rescue”. The SAD president also detailed the injustice being meted out to social welfare beneficiaries. He said as much as Rs 55 crore was pending to ‘shagun’ beneficiaries. He said Dalit students were owed Rs 1285 crore on account of Post Matric scholarship and old age pensioners Rs 1140 crore. He said similarly government employees had not been paid four installments of Dearness Allowance amounting to Rs 4,000 crore. “The Pay Commission is also pending since two years”.
