Taksali group receives severe jolt with Brahmpura nephew joining SAD
Nuashera Pannun, March 13 – The so called Taksali faction today received a severe jolt when its leader Ranjit Singh Brahmpura’s nephew Gurinder Singh Tony Brahmpura today joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in the presence of senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia.

Tony Brahmpura today joined the SAD along with panch and sarpanch and wife Rupinder Kaur, who is a member of the Zila Parishad, at a well attended party meeting here. His family was welcomed into the Akali fold with a ‘siropa’ by Mr Bikram Majithia and SAD Khadoor Sahib candidate Bibi Jagir Kaur.

Speaking on the occasion, Tony Brahmpura said he got thoroughly disillusioned with the so called Taksali band when he realized on closer association that they were in reality a front of the Congress party. “I have seen the functioning of this Taksali group up close and have no hesitation in admitting that I felt ashamed that they have sold their soul to the Congress party. Not only is this group being propped up by the Congress but it is also being financed by it. This is the main reason why I quit them and decided to support the SAD and stand alongside the Sikh panth”, he added.

Speaking on the occasion former minister Bikram Majithia said hundreds of families across Khadoor Sahib Constituency who had earlier voted and supported Mr Ranjit Brahmpura consistently were now feeling cheated. He said the people were finding it intolerable that the Taksali group had become a puppet of the Congress party and was now being used to weaken Sikh institutions and the SAD. “The panthic people of this constituency will never let this conspiracy succeed and teach a lesson to those who had betrayed the panth for their selfish petty interests”, the Akali leader added.
Speaking about the role of Mr Brahmpura, the former minister said when a by election was necessitated in Khadoor Sahib Assembly constituency the SAD was not keen to contest the election. He said however Mr Brahmpura insisted that the party contest and even forwarded the name of his son Ravinder for the poll. “You know S Parkash Singh Badal visited each and every constituency to solicit votes for Mr Brahmpura’s son. Though Ravinder won the seat with a margin of 67,000 votes, ten months later when he had to contest on his own steam he lost the seat by a margin of 15,000 votes. This is surely a record in itself and it is a wonder how he functioned that he lost the goodwill of his constituents in such a short time”.
Mr Majithia said Mr Brahmpura had not even worked for the welfare of his constituents. He said the mp failed to raise a single issue of the constituency or even Punjab in parliament for five years.

The Akali leader also urged the people to rally behind the strong leadership of PM Narendra Modi and the armed forces. He said it was condemnable that Congressmen were trying to demoralize the armed forces. He also questioned Rahul Gandhi why his family had attacked Sri Harmandar Sahib with tanks and artillery if he and his party were committed to following the way of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. EOM
