Ahead of Independence Day 2021, Punjab has been put on alert after suspected drones from Pakistan dropped IED-fitted 'tiffin box' and grenades in Amritsar. Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta on Monday revealed that the police has recovered 5 grenades, Improvised Explosive Device (IED)-fitted tiffin boxes and 100 rounds of 9mm pistol in Amritsar. Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta said that some recoveries were made on Sunday in Amritsar (rural) which include 5 grenades, Improvised Explosive Device (IED)-fitted tiffin boxes, and 100 rounds of 9mm pistol. "After the recovery, we called the NSG team that is currently looking into the matter," he said. We have also increased the checkings, he added. Meanwhile, he further said that there was pressure from across the border on outfits that are involved in anti-national and militant activities to carry out some terrorist actions before Independence Day. -PTC News
