TikTok prohibited! SGPC puts up notices in Golden Temple

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Saturday put up notices in Golden Temple (Sri Harmandir Sahib) reading, 'TikTok is prohibited here' after some of the TikTok videos were made inside holy shrine. Jaswinder Singh, Manager, Sri Harmandir Sahib, was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "We appeal to devotees visiting here to refrain from such activities as it is a place of worship. Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Friday said that if youth don't stop making videos then we'll ask SGPC to ban mobile phones in Golden Temple premises." The decision came in the wake of two incidents where youth were making TikTok videos inside the premises. On January 9, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has filed a complaint against a girl, Akansha, for hurting religious sentiments. She had filmed a TikTok video dancing inside the premises on Punjabi song. Likewise, Ambala-based Youth Khalsa Welfare (YKW) members had urged to book Akansha, accusing her of hurting religious sentiments. In another case, three girls were seen filming a TikTok video inside the complex of Golden Temple Amritsar. The TikTok user was identified as Kannu, who was accompanied by two other girls. https://www.ptcnews.tv/tiktok-video-at-golden-temple-sri-harmandir-sahib-amrtisar-en/ Kannu's TikTok video was featuring Garry Sandhu’s song Jee Karda in the background. Therefore, the SGPC has put up the notice to avoid any such incident. -PTC News
