Tokyo Olympics 2020: Gurjant Singh strikes twice as India defeated Japan 5-3 to continue impressive form in the group stage. A couple of goals from Gurjant and fine strikes from Harmanpreet Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, and Simrajit Singh helped India win back-to-back matches at Tokyo Olympics. On the other hand, Japan managed to hit as many as three goals in their final match at Tokyo Olympics 2020. India continued to be placed 2nd in Pool A below Australia in the points table. Men in Blue were in the lead throughout the game and dominated proceedings. However, Men in Blue were in the lead (3-2) with one quarter to go. Both India and Japan got off to a cautious start. Manpreet Singh-led Indian side broke the shackles and hammered the first goal in the 13th minute. Image Meanwhile, Gurjant Singh then scored early in the 2nd quarter as India doubled the lead over the hosts. However, Japan came back with a goal as Tanaka opened the goal account.

In 3rd third quarter, Kota Watanabe scored an equaliser, however, Shamsher Singh again put India on top as he smashed a goal in the 34th minute. In the final quarter, Nilakanta Sharma doubled India’s lead following a desperate attempt from both sides to find the net. Now, India will be seen in the quarterfinals of the mega event.
