Layoffs in 2023: Dell joins layoff spree; to sack 6,650 employees globally

Layoffs in 2023:  With the tech industry undergoing unprecedented levels of layoffs, Dell is next in the list. As per information, the company has announced to lay off 6,650 employees globally. It comes out to be  about 5 per cent of the technology company's  global workforce. 

In an internal memo, co-chief operating officer, Dell, Jeff Clarke said "the company is experiencing market conditions that continue to erode with an uncertain future". Sources said the company was facing declining sale of PCs.

Dell Technologies Inc. is an American-based technology company. It develops, sells, repairs, and supports computers and related products. 

Notably, the technology sector across the globe is witnessing massive layoffs. Google and Amazon ringed in 2023 with massive layoffs in history.

Google laid off 12,000 employees in January and Amazon, too, announced that it would sack 18,000 employees. 

Last month, music streaming firm Spotify Technology had announced to cut 6 per cent of its workforce.

During Covid, technology companies had made aggressive recruitments when every one was allowed work from home.
