Punjab police bust drug smuggling operation linked to USA-based Jasmit Lucky; seize 6kg heroin
Amritsar/Chandigarh, November 26: Punjab Police struck a significant blow to cross-border narcotics, disrupting a smuggling racket orchestrated by Jasmit Singh alias Lucky in the USA. The police apprehended two individuals, Mohinderpal Singh of Model Town, Hoshiarpur, and Sourav Sharma of Panj Pipli Chand Nagar, Hoshiarpur, seizing 6KG of heroin from their possession.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, disclosed the arrests and identified the smugglers. The raid also led to the confiscation of a Hyundai i20 car (PB91J5186), presumed to be used for transporting the heroin consignment.
CP Bhullar revealed that a police operation, headed by ADCP CITY-3 Abhimanyu Rana IPS and CIA Staff-3, acted upon credible information. The teams intercepted the accused waiting with the consignment received from Pakistan-based smugglers near Burj village on Attari Road.
The arrested individuals were allegedly linked directly to USA-based smuggler Jasmit Lucky and were distributing heroin across Punjab after smuggling it from Pakistan. Investigations aim to uncover the full extent of their operations, tracing the network of suppliers, dealers, and buyers involved in the drug trade.
A case, FIR no. 260 dated 26.11.2023 under sections 21, 23, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act, has been filed at the Chheharta Police Station in Amritsar.
