Kabaddi player dies of rabies after puppy bite | Watch Video
PTC Web Desk: A 22-year-old kabaddi player, Brajesh, tragically passed away on June 28 in Bulandshahr district after his condition rapidly worsened due to rabies, which he contracted from a stray puppy he had rescued. According to his brother, Sandeep Solanki, Brajesh was bitten while saving the puppy that had fallen into a drain in their village. Despite the bite, Brajesh failed to seek medical help or receive the necessary anti-rabies vaccine.
Sandeep revealed that Brajesh's condition deteriorated on June 26, during a kabaddi practice session, when he began experiencing breathing difficulties and exhibiting signs consistent with rabies. Sandeep further accused local hospitals of negligence, claiming that both government and private hospitals refused to provide timely treatment. "We were turned away from multiple hospitals, and even after reaching a private hospital in Aligarh, we were advised to visit Aligarh Medical College or Delhi, where he was again denied admission," Sandeep said.

Brajesh’s friends recalled that he never mentioned the puppy bite, and despite the shocking turn of events, they remembered him as a talented player. Rabies is a fatal viral disease, but it can be prevented with prompt post-exposure vaccination, which Brajesh unfortunately missed.
