Man falls out of truck, dies after being hit by aircraft
PTC Web Desk: In a bizarre incident, a ground worker at the airport lost his life after being struck by a towed aircraft in Hong Kong. The victim, a 34-year-old Jordanian national employed in Hong Kong for China Aircraft Services, was reportedly riding in the passenger seat of a tow truck when he fell out and was subsequently hit by the plane being towed. Emergency responders discovered the individual with severe injuries on a taxiway during the early hours of Tuesday, and despite their efforts, he was declared dead at the scene.
The victim worked for China Aircraft Services, a ground support and maintenance company, according to Hong Kong's airport authority. They suspect that the tragic incident may have been caused by the employee not fastening his seat belt while working on the vehicle. The 60-year-old driver of the tow truck has been arrested on charges of dangerous driving leading to death and is currently in custody pending further investigation, as announced by the police.
