‘Chanting alone is not devotion’: Premanand Maharaj guides Navjot Kaur Sidhu on social service
PTC Web Desk: Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu, met renowned spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj in Vrindavan on Thursday and sought his blessings. During the meeting, Premanand Maharaj shared a profound message, stressing that true devotion lies not merely in rituals but in sincere service to society.
Dr Navjot Kaur reached Vrindavan to seek spiritual guidance and asked Premanand Maharaj how she could bring improvement within herself and serve society in a better way. Responding to her query, the spiritual leader emphasised that chanting a rosary alone does not define devotion. Instead, one should use their position, authority and influence responsibly to uplift the underprivileged.
Premanand Maharaj advised her to focus on improving services that are lacking and extend help to those who are neglected. “Those who serve society with pure intent become dear to the people. God’s grace remains with those who work selflessly for the welfare of others,” he said.
Drawing a simple analogy, the spiritual leader explained that just as a father rewards a child who uses money wisely, God multiplies blessings for those who use their responsibilities thoughtfully. “If we make proper use of the position given to us and work for social happiness, our future life becomes more enlightened,” he added.
Highlighting the moral responsibility of people in influential positions, Premanand Maharaj said individuals holding power should think beyond personal happiness. “You are placed in these roles like parents, with the responsibility to serve society. Removing fear and greed from life and working for social welfare itself is true devotion,” he said, underlining that social service is the highest form of worship.
