Raccoon breaks into Virginia liquor store, passes out in bathroom after drinking whiskey
PTC News Desk: A very intoxicated raccoon broke into a liquor store and went on a drunken rampage- then passed out first-face in the bathroom, local officials said. Shelves destroyed shelves and liquor spilled across the floor, a scene possibly indicate burglary was rather a break-in by a tiny and harmless creature, who slept in the bathroom after passing out due to consumption of excessive whiskey.
The shattered bottles and puddles of alcohol suggested the animal had been on a wild spree before making its way to the restroom to collapse.
Officer Samantha Martin struggled to control her laugh at the bizarre situation as she said, “I personally like raccoons. They are funny little critters. He fell through one of the ceiling tiles and went on a full-blown rampage, drinking everything.”
Martin transported the raccoon to the county shelter. She admitted the episode was one for the books, adding, “Another day in the life of an animal control officer, I guess.”
Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter also confirmed that the raccoon had recovered from the ordeal. In their statement, the agency said the raccoon was fine after resting: “After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learnt that breaking and entering is not the answer.”
