UP flood takes lives of 104; Army choppers, NDRF and PAC conduct rescue operation
Affecting 28 lakh people and killing more than 104, the Uttar Pradesh flood makes living miserable.
About 3 lakh people have taken shelter in relief camps in the affected areas of eastern parts of the state, said the relief commissioner’s office. The death toll in the floods has reached 104 in the state, where 3,097 villages in 24 districts are inundated affecting a population of over 28 lakh," it said.
Relief and rescue operations are carried out in the affected areas of the flood hit district by army choppers, NDRF and PAC (flood). With 28 companies of NDRD, 32 companies of PAC along with 2 choppers of the Indian Air Force and several Army personnel have been conducting the relief and rescue operation.
Sharda River is flowing above the red mark at Palia Kalan and near the danger mark at Shardanagar while the Ghaghra River is flowing above the red mark at Turtipar in Ballia, reported by the Central Water Commission.
