US-China Trade War Likely To Open Doors To Export Opportunity For India US and China engaged in a trade war is likely to lead to export opportunities for India in trade with the two countries. A range of Indian products may become more competitive as the US is imposing additional 25% duty on imports worth $34 billion from China. “India can focus on numerous goods for expanding its exports to the US and China markets following the hike in duties by both countries on imports from each other”, the industry chamber CII said. India, being a domestic demand driven economy, is less vulnerable to the effects of a trade war compared to other economies which are export-led in nature. In its recent monetary policy statement, the RBI had cautioned on the risks to global growth from rising trade tensions. As the US expands its list for targeting Chinese imports, CII said the goods that India should focus on for the US market include items in the categories of machinery, electrical equipment, vehicles and transport parts, chemicals, plastics and rubber products. -PTC News
