Uttar Pradesh: Dengue patient 'infused' mosambi juice in place of plasma; dies

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh): In a bizarre incident, a family in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh have alleged that their patient was infused sweet lime (mosambi) juice rather than blood at a local hospital. It lead to the death of the patient. As per information, a team has been formed to look into the allegation as to how mosambi juice was infused in place of plasma to dengue patient. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chier Minister Brajesh Pathak has also assured of strict action against the guilty. Notably, with dengue cases rising, the Uttar Pradesh Government has cancelled the leaves of all doctors and paramedical staff. The Chief Minister's Office had cancelled the leaves of doctors and paramedical staff, he added. "Cases less as compared to last year. Beds are reserved in hospitals and preparations for enough platelets are being made. Leaves of all government doctors and health-related people have been cancelled," said Pathak. Earlier, the Central Government informed that it had decided to depute a high-level team to Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with the state authorities for instituting measures for dengue management in Firozabad, Agra and Etawah districts. "Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to depute a high-level multi-disciplinary team to Uttar Pradesh to collaborate with the State Health Authorities in instituting public health measures for Dengue management in Firozabad, Agra and Etawah districts," the ministry informed in a press statement.
