Valmiki community calls for Punjab Bandh on August 12
Chandigarh: Chandigarh: Punjab Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal promised representatives of Valmiki community to meet CM Bhagwant Mann discuss their demands and urged them to withdraw their 'Punjabi Bandh' call on August 12.

The representative of Valmiki community had previously submitted a memorandum to Dhaliwal with his request. The minister said he would forward the memorandum to CM. Dhaliwal told them that their issue would be resolved amicably and that the protest was not in the national interest.
He reiterated the government's firm commitment to work for the betterment of Punjab and its people. He urged the Valmiki community to consider the upcoming rakhi festival and the 75th independence day on 15 August, and said the bandh's call for 12 August should be called off.
