Chandigarh, April 12: Wheat procurement in Punjab has surpassed five-year records, with government agencies acquiring 4.3 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, according to the Information and Public Relations Department of Punjab on Monday. According to a government official, "the total purchase of wheat by government entities as of April 10 has broken all records for wheat procurement till the same date in the previous five years." As wheat arrivals rose in most parts of the state, Procurement Agencies increased their efforts to ensure that Mandi operations are carried out more efficiently.
