Winter 2020: Amritsar colder than Manali, Chandigarh colder than Shimla

The winter 2020 has come with the extreme cold wave in the north region across Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on Monday. As per report, day temperature in Amritsar was lower than Manali, while Chandigarh was much colder than Shimla. Meanwhile, the visibility has reduced in most parts of the Punjab and Haryana and commonly in Chandigarh. Also, the timings of the primary and secondary schools have been changed. The primary school timings would be from 10 am to 3 pm while for middle/high/senior secondary schools would be from 10 am to 4 pm. According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Punjab's Amritsar recorded a day temperature of 10.4 degrees Celsius, while Manali in Himachal Pradesh recorded a maximum temperature of 10.8 degrees Celsius. Likewise, Chandigarh witnessed a high temperature of 12.7 degree Celcius, which is even colder than Shimla, which recorded a high temperature of 14.1 degree celsius. Meanwhile, Ambala (11.5° C), Karnal (11.4° C), Patiala (11° C) and Ludhiana (11.6° C) were among the other places which recorded below-normal maximum temperature. https://www.ptcnews.tv/punjab-education-department-announces-new-school-timings-for-winter-en/ In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest place with 1.7° celsius, Sirsa (5.3° C), Rohtak (7° C), Bhiwani (6.1° C), Hisar (6.8° C), Karnal (7.5° C) and Ambala (6.9° C) also experienced extreme cold waves. Amritsar (5° C), Gurdaspur (5° C), Faridkot (5.5° C), Ludhiana (7.7° C), Patiala (7.7° C) in Punjab too experienced a colder night. Meanwhile, Chandigarh recorded a low of 9.1° Celsius. -PTC News
