Hamas chief killing: India issues advisory for its citizens in Lebanon, asks them to 'exercise caution'
Hamas chief killing: The Indian Embassy in Beirut has issued an advisory for Indian nationals in Lebanon and urged them to avoid non-essential travel to Lebanon due to the region's rising tensions. Indian nationals in Lebanon were warned to limit their movements and maintain constant contact with the Embassy of India in Beirut via their designated email or emergency phone number.
“In view of the recent escalations in the region, Indian nationals are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Lebanon,” the Embassy stated.
“All Indian nationals in Lebanon are advised to exercise caution, restrict their movements and remain in contact with the Embassy of India in Beirut through their email id: cons.beirut@mea.gov.in or the emergency phone number 96176860128.”
This advice comes after a slew of similar warnings from other countries, including Australia, the United States, and Britain.
Australia's Foreign Minister, Penny Wong, has encouraged Australian people in Lebanon to leave the West Asian country immediately. "Now is the time to leave, the security situation could deteriorate quickly with little or no notice," Wong said in a video message posted on social media platform X.
Wong warned that Beirut's airport could close, leaving people stranded for an extended period of time, and recommended Australians to fly commercial while it is still functioning.
