Punjab youth shot dead in California; mother recalls heartbreaking final conversation
Punjabi youth shot dead: A wave of grief has swept through a village in Punjab's Patiala district after a youth from the village was allegedly shot dead in the United States. The deceased has been identified as Khush Karandeep Singh, who had been living and working in California for the past five years. His family has appealed to the Government of India and the Indian Embassy to help bring his mortal remains back home at the earliest.

According to the family, Khush Karandeep Singh moved to the United States after completing his Class 12 education in the hope of building a better future.
His father said the family had spent nearly Rs 55 lakh to send their only son abroad, believing he would fulfil the family's dreams. Instead, they were left devastated after receiving news of his death.
Khush Karandeep's mother, Sarbjeet Kaur, said she had spoken to her son shortly before the incident. She recalled that he had happily told her he had received Rakhi sent by his sisters and had recently purchased a new car. The family never imagined that the conversation would be their last.
His father, Balwinder Singh, said the entire family is shattered by the loss. He urged the Central Government and the Indian Embassy in the United States to ensure that his son's body is brought back to India without delay so the family can perform his last rites.
