US mass shooting: Two killed, 28 injured 'reckless' attack in Baltimore
Washington DC (US), July 2: Two people died and 28 others were injured in a mass shooting incident in Baltimore, US. The incident took place at a block party.
According to the report, nine people were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, and three of the injured are in critical condition. Police arrived at the scene after receiving many calls at about 12:30 a.m. (local time). According to CNN, Baltimore Police Acting Commissioner Richard Worley claimed that police found one woman dead and nine people with gunshot wounds. The incident was described by Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott as a "reckless and cowardly act." According to CNN, he stated, "This was a reckless, cowardly act that happened here and that has permanently altered many lives and cost two people their lives."
Earlier, Baltimore police spokesperson Lindsey Elridge stated that officers from the Baltimore Police Department are on the scene of a "mass shooting incident" in the South Baltimore area, according to CNN. Elridge stated that the event occurred in the 800 block of Gretna Avenue.
"Baltimore Police Department is on scene of a mass shooting incident in the 800 blk of Gretna Court in our Southern District. Acting Commissioner Worley and PIO are on scene. Media Staging Area will be located at the intersection of 6th Street and Audrey Avenue," Baltimore Police tweeted.
