'Return to Your I Hate India Tour’: US singer Mary Millben slams Rahul Gandhi over remarks on PM Modi, Donald Trump
PTC Web Desk: US singer and actor Mary Millben has criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to “return to his I Hate India Tour". Millben, who has often praised PM Modi and performed during his US visits, said Rahul Gandhi lacks the “acumen to become the Prime Minister of India.”
Her remarks came a day after Rahul Gandhi posted on X, alleging that PM Modi is “frightened of US President Donald Trump.” Rahul Gandhi claimed that the Prime Minister “allows Trump to decide and announce that India will not buy Russian oil,” keeps sending congratulatory messages despite being “snubbed,” and “does not contradict” the US President on “Operation Sindoor.”
You are wrong, @RahulGandhi.
PM @narendramodi is not afraid of President Trump. PM Modi understands the long game and his diplomacy with the U.S. is strategic. Just as @POTUS will always put America’s interests first, so will PM Modi do what is best for India. And I applaud that.… https://t.co/4p0HNRCAv2 — Mary Millben (@MaryMillben) October 17, 2025
Responding sharply, Millben wrote on X, “You are wrong, @RahulGandhi. PM @narendramodi is not afraid of President Trump. PM Modi understands the long game, and his diplomacy with the US is strategic. Just as @POTUS will always put America’s interests first, PM Modi will do what is best for India. And I applaud that. That’s what Heads of State do.”
The American singer added that both Modi and Trump act in the best interests of their nations , something she said Rahul Gandhi fails to comprehend. “I don’t expect you to understand this type of leadership because you don’t possess the acumen to be the PM of India. Best to return to your ‘I hate India’ tour that has an audience of one – you,” she said.
Millben, who describes herself as a cultural ambassador, first met PM Modi during his state visit to the US in June 2023. She performed the Indian national anthem at the Ronald Reagan Building and later touched the Prime Minister’s feet to seek his blessings, a gesture that made global headlines.
Meanwhile, controversy erupted earlier this week when US President Donald Trump claimed that PM Modi had assured him India would stop buying oil from Russia. “He’s assured me there will be no oil purchases from Russia. It’s a process, but it’ll be over soon,” Trump stated.
India, however, has not confirmed any such commitment. Responding to Trump’s claim, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India’s energy policy is guided by the goal of safeguarding the interests of its consumers.
