Zuckerberg dispels doubts on cage fight speculation with Elon Musk, calls to move forward

San Francisco, August 14: In a recent development, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has weighed in on the ongoing speculation surrounding a potential cage fight with Elon Musk. Zuckerberg dismissed the idea that Musk was serious about the proposed fight and emphasised the need to move forward. The debate over the hypothetical fight had captured the attention of the tech world and beyond.

Using his social media Threads application, Zuckerberg stated, "I think we can all agree Elon isn't serious and it's time to move on. I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won't confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead. If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I'm going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously."

The tension between Zuckerberg and Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, escalated following the successful launch of Meta's Threads, a direct competitor to Musk's X platform (formerly known as Twitter), in July. Threads shares similarities with X, and Meta managed to acquire 30 million users on the platform's debut day.

Elon Musk had previously asserted that the proposed fight between him and Zuckerberg would be livestreamed on both X and Meta's platforms and would potentially occur in Italy. However, Zuckerberg took to Threads to caution netizens against believing Musk's claims. He wrote, "I love this sport and I've been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you'll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on."

Zuckerberg also made it clear that he was not holding his breath for Musk's commitment to the fight and would disclose the details when he was prepared. "Not holding my breath for Elon, but I'll share details on my next fight when I'm ready. When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card," he elaborated.

Elon Musk didn't remain silent in response to Zuckerberg's statements. He took to Twitter to express his thoughts. "If Zuck really wants a lesson in why there are weight categories in fighting so badly, I could just head over to his house next week and teach him a lesson he won’t soon forget... Otherwise, we will do it as soon as the arena in Italy is ready," Musk tweeted. He even playfully suggested, "Or we could do both and consider next week just a practice session."

As the debate over the potential cage fight continues, it remains uncertain whether the two tech giants will ever step into the ring. For now, it appears that Zuckerberg is focusing on his competitive endeavors within the industry, while Musk keeps the playful banter alive on social media. The tech world watches with curiosity to see if this unconventional challenge will ever come to fruition.
