Coronavirus India Updates: India on Wednesday reported 47,262 new COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day rise so far this year. Likewise, the nation reported 23,907 recoveries, and 275 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 1,17,34,058 which includes 1,12,05,160 recoveries. 3,68,457 active cases are left while the death toll in India due to COVID-19 stands at 1,60,441. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 23,64,38,861 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to March 23, 2021, out of which 10,25,628 samples were tested on Tuesday. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, while giving coronavirus updates, said that India has crossed a significant milestone in the fight against the global pandemic. The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed the 5-crore mark (5,08,41,286), it stated. Five states (Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat), account for 77.44 percent of new cases. These states have been reporting a surge in daily new cases. Maharashtra (28,699) has reported the highest daily new cases, followed by Punjab (2,254) and Karnataka (2,010). India’s total active caseload reached 3,68,457 on Wednesday, comprising 3.14 percent of total positive cases. Six States account for 83.27 percent of new deaths. Maharashtra (132) recorded maximum deaths in the last 24 hours. 12 states and UTs that include Odisha, Lakshadweep, Ladakh (UT), Manipur, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh haven't reported any Covid deaths in the last 24 hours.
