Z-Plus security given to Gurmeet Ram Rahim in view of the threat: Manohar Lal Khattar
Chandigarh: Days after Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is serving life imprisonment, was given Z-Plus security, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday said that the security is given in view of the threat to the person.
Giving a statement on giving Z-Plus security to Gurmeet Ram Rahim, Manohar Lal Khattar said that it was the Government's responsibility to protest Gurmeet Ram Rahim in view of the threats posed to him by the pro-Khalistan outfits.

The government is responsible for the safety of the prisoner who is in jail or out on furlough, he said.
The prisoner has got the punishment for his crime and as long as the sentence remains, he will have to remain in jail, he said, adding that "The security of the jail is different."
All prisoners have the right to furlough, Khattar said that Ram Rahim came out as per his rights. "We had inputs regarding the threat to Gurmeet Ram Rahim, so it was the responsibility of the Government to give security to him," he said.
As soon as there will be no threat to him, security will not be given, the Chief Minister added. On the other hand, Haryana's Home Minister Anil Vij said that he was not aware of the furlough and the Z-Plus security given to Ram Rahim.
It raised several questions on the Haryana Government and security authorities.
