SAD Stages Massive Protest to Gherao Kejriwal Residence
New Delhi/ Chandigarh , November 7: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today held a massive protest to gherao residence of AAP Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to protest against the protection being extended by him to international drug racket accused Sukhpal Khaira and demanded the immediate expulsion of Khaira from the primary membership of AAP.
Protesting mlas and workers braved lathi charge, water cannons and barricades put in their way and registered their protest by demanding Arvind Kejriwal come clean on the issue immediately and explain to Punjabis why he had led a malicious campaign against Punjabi youth on the issue of drugs and why he was now adopting a studied silence when AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira had been summoned as an accused in a drug smuggling case by a Fazilka court in which his accomplices had been handed over a 20 year sentence.
Talking to media persons after the protest which left several Akali workers injured, SAD spokesman Manjinder Singh Sirsa said “use of force against us cannot suppress the voice of Punjabis. We want answers from Kejriwal and will not rest till we have them. Instead of acting like a coward and hiding from us, he should tell why he is sheltering his party leader who has been accused of a heinous crime like destroying the future of the youth of Punjab”.
Mr Sirsa also asked Kejriwal why he was not taking action against Khaira. “Are you apprehensive that your name will also be disclosed as a direct beneficiary of the drug money which you have shown as election fund”. Stating that Kejriwal now stood exposed, Sirsa said the Delhi CM was fond of saying that he would clean politics in India, but was now failing to even clean his own legislature party which had been besmirched with the label of drug smuggling.
Earlier addressing SAD Delhi unit president and Delhi Sikh gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Mr. Manjit Singh GK and senior leaders including Mr Virsa Singh Valtoha, Veer Singh Lopoke, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, Kanwarjit Barkandi,Vardev Mann, Parambans Romana, Ravi Karan Kahlon, Harpal Juneja, Iqbal Sandhu and others said that AAP had tried to defame its political opponents in assembly elections of Punjab but the reality was out in the open and it had now been proved that AAP leaders themselves were the real suppliers of drugs.
The SAD leadership declared that though Kejriwal had tried to suppress the voice of truth with use of police force against today but this protest and the campaign against him would continue till he takes action against his party leaders including Sukhpal Khaira and accepts his own guilt in this drug trade.
