Covid 19: Hockey Player Mandeep Singh shifted to hospital

Indian hockey player Mandeep Singh, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, has been admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru following a drop in blood oxygen level. His health condition is said to be stable, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) said on Tuesday.

According to the Sports Authority of India, the SAI authorities on campus took an immediate decision to shift him to SS Sparsh multispecialty hospital as a precautionary measure. His condition is currently stable.

Mandeep Singh has played 129 games for India and scored 60 goals so far. the 25-year-old was a part of the gold-winning team at the 2018 Asian Champions Trophy.

Mandeep Singh and five other national players including captain Manpreet Singh, defenders Surender Kumar, Jaskaran Singh, drag-flicker Varun Kumar and goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The Sports Authority of India said in a statement that "All six athletes in NCOE Bengaluru who tested COVID positive, were being monitored constantly and their vitals were being checked four times every day - in the morning, afternoon, evening and in the night before sleep."
