IND vs AUS Melbourne Test: India level the series 1-1

IND vs AUS Boxing Day Test at Melbourne: After a major defeat at Adelaide, India bounced back and defeated Australia by 8 wickets on the Day 4 of the second Test at Melbourne on Tuesday. In the absence of Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane led the side from the front even as he smashed a magnificent century in the first innings and finished the game in the second inning.

Australia won the toss in the second Test and elected to bat first. However, the Aussies were bowled out in the first innings at the score of 195. The scorecard was like Joe Burns (0), Matthew Wade (30), Marnus Labuschagne (48), Steven Smith (0), Travis Head (38), Cameron Green (12), Tim Paine (13), Patt Cummins (9), Mitchell Starc (7), Nathan Lyon (20) and Hazlewood (4)*.

In the first innings, Jasprit Bumrah claimed 4 wickets while Ashwin bagged 3, Siraj 2, and Jadeja 1.

Team India in its first innings took a massive lead of 131 as it scored 326 runs. India's first innings scorecard was like Mayank Agarwal (0), Shubman Gill (45), Pujara (17), Rahane (112), Hanuma Vihari (21), Rishabh Pant (29), Ravindra Jadeja (57), Ashwin (14), Umesh Yadav (9), Bumrah (0) and Siraj (0)*.

Somehow, Australia managed to cross the lead but couldn't give a good target to India. The hosts were bowled out on 200 runs. In the second innings, Wade scored 40 runs, Joe Burns 4, Labuschagne 28, Steven Smith 8, Travis Head 17, Green 45, Tim Paine 1, Cummins 22, Starc 14*, Lyon 3 and Hazlewood 10.

Chasing 70 runs, Mayank Agarwal scored just 5 runs before getting dismissed by Starc and likewise, Pujara scored just 3 runs and got dismissed by Cummins. Debutant Shubman Gill scored unbeatable 35 runs while skipper Ajinkya Rahane scored not out innings of 27 runs.

IND vs AUS Boxing Day Test at Melbourne was crucial and the victory is even more special for Team India as Virat Kohli, Rohit, Shami, Bhuvi, and Ishant were not part of it.
