Crackdown on illegal structures: Gurugram PG demolished over violation of building norms, several left homeless overnight
The action is part of a wider crackdown on unauthorised construction and the commercial use of residential properties across the DLF township.
PTC News Desk: A major enforcement campaign in Gurugram's upscale DLF Phase-3 gathered pace over the weekend, with authorities demolishing an illegally operated large-paying guest (PG) accommodation running from a residential building.
The action is part of a wider crackdown on unauthorised construction and the commercial use of residential properties across the DLF township. Officials said that during a detailed survey of nearly 5,100 properties, more than 300 violations were identified in DLF Phase-3 alone.
The drive follows a writ petition filed nearly two years ago by the DLF Residents' Welfare Association. Acting on court directions, authorities conducted a comprehensive survey of properties in DLF Phases 1 to 5, identified violations and issued notices to owners who had deviated from approved building plans.
After the deadlines for compliance expired, authorities began demolition and sealing operations. Officials stated that the enforcement measures are being carried out in accordance with directions from the High Court and the Supreme Court.
The investigation uncovered widespread misuse of residential properties for commercial activities, including unauthorised clinics, guest houses, PG accommodations, gyms, departmental stores and beauty parlours operating without the required permissions.
Authorities confirmed that several establishments, including at least three guest houses and a number of unauthorised clinics, have already been sealed. Officials said such illegal commercial activities place an excessive burden on civic infrastructure and violate approved building regulations.
