PTC News Desk: In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested three people, including a dismissed Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Punjab Police, for allegedly plotting to extort ₹10 crore from a Delhi-based defence equipment manufacturer by issuing death threats in the name of Khalistani and gangster groups.

According to police, the arrests have helped solve two extortion cases, including a firing-for-extortion case registered in Punjab.

The accused have been identified as Gurpinder Singh alias Prince (32) and Shamsher Singh alias Sam (35), both residents of Tarn Taran, Punjab, and Jaswant Singh (59), a resident of Amritsar.

The case originated from an FIR lodged at the Chanakyapuri Police Station on October 17, 2025, following a complaint by Sahil Luthra. Luthra alleged that he had received repeated extortion calls and threats demanding ₹10 crore in the name of gangster Goldy Brar and Khalistani elements.

Police said that during August and September 2025, Luthra received several threatening calls and messages. The threats continued with a WhatsApp voice note sent from an international number on June 4, 2026, again demanding money and warning of serious consequences if the demand was not met.

The investigation was transferred to the Delhi Police Crime Branch on June 10, according to Special Commissioner of Police HGS Dhaliwal.

During questioning, the arrested accused, Gurpinder Singh and Shamsher Singh, allegedly revealed that they had sent the threatening WhatsApp voice note on the instructions of co-accused Jaswant Singh, who was overseeing the complainant company's operations in Punjab.
