Doon Medical College ragging: Student allege assault by seniors, threatened; probe ordered
The incident came to the fore after a complaint was submitted to the administration and the chief warden on January 13.
PTC News Desk: A first-year student of Doon Medical College in Uttarakhand has alleged physical assault by seniors, prompting institution's anti-ragging committee to launch investigation into the matter.
The incident came to the fore after a complaint was submitted to the administration and the chief warden on January 13.
The complainant further alleged that he was taken outside the college campus, forced to cut his hair against his will, and even made to sleep outdoors—incidents he described as “humiliating and coercive.”
The college administration stated that strict action would be taken if the accusations were confirmed. “Indiscipline will not be tolerated. Statements of the students involved have been recorded and the matter is being thoroughly investigated,” said Principal Dr. Geeta Jain.
Dr. Jain added that the institute has a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and misconduct. “Appropriate measures will be taken once the inquiry committee submits its report,” she said.
Meanwhile, sources told India Today TV that the college has also written to the parents of the accused students, but has not received any response yet.
