NEET paper solver gang busted in Bihar, over 20 arrested including 9 impersonators
As over 20 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the NEET (UG) re-examination on Sunday following the cancellation of the original test amid paper leak allegations, authorities busted an alleged cheating racket and arrested 30 people in Bihar's Lakhisarai district.
PTC News Desk: Bihar Police and administration have taken a major action during the NEET re-examination 2026 following suspected cases of impersonation and cheating came to the fore at several examination centres in Bihar. A total of 30 people have been arrested during checks, including nine accused who were allegedly appearing in place of other candidates.
As over 20 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the NEET (UG) re-examination on Sunday following the cancellation of the original test amid paper leak allegations, authorities busted an alleged cheating racket and arrested 30 people in Bihar's Lakhisarai district.
According to sources, raids were conducted at multiple examination centres, leading to the arrest of nine impersonators. One was caught at the KRK High School centre, seven at Kendriya Vidyalaya, and one at the Hasanpur School centre. The accused are said to belong to different districts.
In addition to the impersonators, 21 others were taken into custody for their suspected involvement in the examination fraud. Investigators are probing their links to the alleged network.
The arrested individuals are being interrogated under the supervision of SDM Prabhakar Kumar and SDPO Shivam Kumar. Based on leads emerging from the questioning, a special police team has launched raids at several locations connected to the case. District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar and Superintendent of Police Prerna Kumar are closely overseeing the investigation. Officials believe more people may be involved, and further arrests cannot be ruled out.
SDPO Shivam Kumar confirmed that 30 people were arrested during the NEET re-test, including nine individuals accused of appearing in the examination as proxies for other candidates, while the remaining 21 were allegedly linked to the fraud.
