Ludhiana bakers celebrate discus thrower Kamalpreet's achievement with 65-kg cake

Punjab: Ludhiana-based bakers Harjinder Singh Kukreja and Satinder Singh Kukreja honoured Kamalpreet Kaur, first Indian woman to breach the 65-metre mark in discus throw at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, with a 65-kg cake.

“Number 65 is very significant because she is the first to breach the 65-metre mark in the history of Indian women’s discus throw. This is why we have made a 65-kg cake to salute her achievement”, says Harjinder Singh Kukreja, who organised a felicitation ceremony for Olympic finalist Kamalpreet Kaur.

Kamalpreet Kaur was elated at being honoured with a massive cake. She said, “It’s a proud moment not just for me but for my family as well as Punjab and India. What is heartening is all love and respect my sport discus throw has been accorded because of my achievements in the Tokyo Olympics 2020”.

The 65-kg three-tier cake was crafted with Olympic rings, a large discus and a fondant figurine of Kamalpreet Kaur in her India team jersey with Kaur printed on it.

“Cakes are what we excel in and this is the best tribute we could’ve given this daughter of Punjab, who has made us proud at the international level," said Satinder Singh Kukreja.
