PTC News Desk: The Police have arrested the accused involved in the firing outside Vardaan Hospital in Jalandhar on February 28 after brief exchange of fire. The accused was shot in leg and subsequently taken into th custody. A motorcycle and pistols were also recovered from the spot.

According to the police, the accused was associated with the gangster Lucky Patial gang and was wanted in cases registered in Mohali and Moga.

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Satinder Singh said the police had received specific intelligence about the accused's movement, following which the CIA staff set up a checkpoint. When officers signalled him to stop, he sped away on his motorcycle.

While trying to escape, he lost control and the motorcycle skidded. He then allegedly opened fire on the police team, prompting the officers to fire back in self-defence. The accused was hit by a bullet, after which an ambulance was called and he was rushed to a hospital. He was identified as Jodh Singh, alias Jodha, a resident of the Shahkot area.

The Police Commissioner said Jodh Singh was the person who had opened fire outside the gate of Vardaan Hospital about two to three months ago. The helmet and weapons recovered from him were the same ones allegedly used in that attack, and CCTV footage has confirmed his involvement.
