While trying to escape, he lost control and the motorcycle skidded. He then allegedly opened fire on the police team, prompting the officers to fire back in self-defence. The accused was hit by a bullet, after which an ambulance was called and he was rushed to a hospital. He was identified as Jodh Singh, alias Jodha, a resident of the Shahkot area.
The Police Commissioner said Jodh Singh was the person who had opened fire outside the gate of Vardaan Hospital about two to three months ago. The helmet and weapons recovered from him were the same ones allegedly used in that attack, and CCTV footage has confirmed his involvement.
