Diljit Dosanjh, Ludhiana Mayor office receive bomb threat, security heightened
The message also reportedly referred to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and contained provocative separatist content.
PTC News Desk: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has reportedly received a bomb threat via email, prompting heightened security measures and concern among authorities in Punjab. Sources said the threatening message contained pro-Khalistan language and warned of bomb blasts before June 6.
According to officials, the email included direct threats against Dosanjh and people associated with him. The sender allegedly claimed that anyone helping the singer would be killed. The message also reportedly referred to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and contained provocative separatist content.
In addition to threatening Dosanjh, the sender allegedly warned of blowing up the office of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Mayor. Police and intelligence agencies have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender using cyber tracking and digital forensic tools.
Authorities said security arrangements at sensitive locations are being reassessed, particularly because of the June 6 deadline mentioned in the threat mail. The month of June is considered sensitive in Punjab due to the anniversary of Operation Blue Star at the Golden Temple in 1984.
Although no explosives or suspicious materials have been found so far, officials are treating the threat seriously because of the nature of the language and references used in the communication. Initial investigations suggest the email may have been intended to spread panic and draw attention through communal and separatist messaging.
