Graft case: HC orders Sangat Singh Gilzian to join investigation, threatens to cancel interim bail
Chandigarh, May 15: The High Court has ordered former Punjab Minister Sangat Singh Gilzian to join the investigation into the corruption case filed against him. The Court has also threatened to cancel the ex-Minister's interim bail plea in case he fails to comply with the orders.
Notably, the court stayed Gilzian's arrest last year.
Further, the High Court adjourned the hearing till July 4, ordering Giljian to join the investigation of the case.
Punjab vigilance bureau has booked the former Punjab minister on the allegations of corruption.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau filed the FIR on June 6 under the Prevention of Corruption Act and criminal conspiracy. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, his predecessor in the previous Congress regime, was also arrested in the case. Gilzian was named forest minister in the Congress cabinet on September 26, 2021, but he was defeated in the February 2022 assembly elections.
Gilzian has been accused of organised corruption in the issuance of permits for cutting of khair trees, transfer of officials, purchases, and issuance of NOCs, etc.
